
On a hot summer day, over 70 folks of all ages came from all over to Manitowoc for the 2007 Manitowoc Ultimate Hat Tournament ... and changed the world forever.
The inaugural Manitowoc Ultimate Hat Tournament kicks off this Saturday, July 28th, at the MPSD Soccer Complex on S. 35th Street in Manitowoc. Nearly 60 players from around the state, as well as cities like Chicago, Des Moines and the Twin Cities will be gathering to play in the mixer/hat format. Player check-in begin at 9 AM, and the first games will pull at 10 AM.
The Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern will be holding a brat fry at Copps Food Center in Manitowoc on Sunday, July 15th from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Brats, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs will be sold, along with soda and water. Proceeds will go towards donations of money and equipment for school and youth Ultimate clubs in the Manitowoc area.
MANITOWOC, Wis., June 25, 2007 - The Manitowoc Ultimate Hat Tournament, previously scheduled for June 30th, has been rescheduled for Saturday July 28, 2007. The tournament is being organized by the Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD), with proceeds going to the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern (MUFC), a local non-profit organization. "The move avoids any potential resource conflicts with the PGA event in Kohler, as well as gives us more time to make sure that this inaugural tournament is a success," said tournament director Don Seiler.
The Board of Directors of the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday June 26 at 8:00 PM at Kathy's Stage Door Pub, 701 Franklin Street in Manitowoc.

On May 17, two members of the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern gave an ultimate frisbee demo to 30 boys from Cub Scout Pack 3932 of Jackson Elementary School. All boys earned their Ultimate belt loop awards in the process, and the MUFC donated the cost of the awards to the Pack.

The Board of Directors of the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern have rescheduled the May board meeting for tomorrow, Wednesday May 30th at 7:30 PM. The meeting will be held at Kathy's Stage Door Pub.

Manitowoc native Megan Molteni, a captain for the Carleton College women's Ultimate team (a.k.a. Syzygy) was named to the UPA All-Region Team for the Central Region for the second straight year.
Congrats to Megan and Carleton on a great year!
The Hodags from the University of Wisconsin are the 2007 UPA College Open National Champions. UPA results wrap-up, including post-game interviews available here.
The Hodags were the runners-up last year, losing to Florida in the finals. They won the championship in 2003 also.
