Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern

MANITOWOC, Wis., June 25, 2007 - The Manitowoc Ultimate Hat Tournament, previously scheduled for June 30th, has been rescheduled for Saturday July 28, 2007. The tournament is being organized by the Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD), with proceeds going to the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern (MUFC), a local non-profit organization. "The move avoids any potential resource conflicts with the PGA event in Kohler, as well as gives us more time to make sure that this inaugural tournament is a success," said tournament director Don Seiler.

Seiler noted that players from all over Wisconsin and areas such as Chicago, Duluth, and even Oklahoma have committed to play, and that openings are still available. The registration deadline is Friday July 20th. More information is available on the MUFC website at www.mufc.us/tournament.

Seiler also said that the tournament is still looking for sponsors to help offset the cost of prizes and operating costs. He noted that the goal is to create a fun tournament that will draw experienced players to not only put on a fantastic display of skill and athleticism, but spend time in Manitowoc, going out with friends and family.

"Obviously, we want these players to have a good experience in Manitowoc, and come back next year with more of their club or college teammates. Who knows, we might even give the Cooler Classic a run for its money," Seiler joked, referring to the Cooler Classic tournament held every August in Milwaukee for the past 19 years. "Part of that is fun prizes. We're starting small with custom-printed discs and T-shirts. VC Ultimate in Toronto generously sent us a package of DVDs, discs and a classic jersey, which we'll raffle off as well. I think players and fans will have a good time."
