Manitowoc to Host Ultimate Frisbee Hat Tournament
Event Will Raise Funds For Ultimate Frisbee Concern
MANITOWOC, Wis., May 16, 2007 - The Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an open hat tournament on Saturday, July 28, 2007. This date is a change, and was previously June 30. Proceeds will go to the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern (MUFC), a non-profit organization. The event will take place on the MPSD 35th Street Soccer Complex on South 35th Street.
"What we really want to do with this tournament is raise the profile of this sport in the Manitowoc and Two Rivers area, to get people here to come out and watch it and see how truly exciting this game is," said Don Seiler, President of the MUFC. "I've already received some interest in playing from folks in Appleton and Fond du Lac, Duluth and even Oklahoma. Five years from now I'd love to see this tournament filled with local players."
The public is welcome to come out and see a full day of Ultimate at no cost. Registration for players will cost $15.00, or 4-for-$50. Refreshments and MUFC merchandise will be available for sale.
