What:
The Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) will be hosting the first annual Manitowoc Ultimate Hat Tournament on Saturday July 28th, 2007 (previously scheduled for June 30th). Registration is now open via the MPRD eConnect system, click here to register! The fee for playing in the tournament will be $15.00, which is collected online. If you are uncomfortable using the online system, email info@mufc.us and we will work with you to get registered. A group discount of 15% for groups of 4 or more is also available, but can only be done offline, email info@mufc.us and we'll get you signed up. UPDATE: REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED!
A "hat" tournament is one in which players sign up individually, and teams are then drawn (from a hat). We will do our best to ensure an even distribution of skill levels.
All players will receive a player pack with various goodies, including an official tournament T-shirt and disc. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt. The MUFC will also have its other merchandise (shirts, stickers, discs) available for sale. Refreshments will also be available for sale, but you are welcome to bring your own. As this tournament is on school district property, no alcohol or smoking is allowed on the grounds.
All proceeds go to the Manitowoc Ultimate Frisbee Concern, a non-profit organization.
When:
Saturday, July 28th, 2007. This will be an all-day event. Check-in will begin at 9:00 AM (subject to change), with teams being drawn and play beginning at 10:00 AM. We also have the following day, Sunday July 29th, reserved as a bad-weather alternate.
Where:
The tournament will be held at the MPSD Soccer Complex on South 35th Street in Manitowoc. From I-43, take Exit 149 to Manitowoc. Turn west and proceed for about a mile to Dewey Street. Turn right onto Dewey Street and proceed to South 35th Street, a block past Wal-Mart. Go north on South 35th Street for a half-mile until to you come to the MPSD (Manitowoc Public School District) Soccer Complex.
See our Google Map of the tournament location as well as a list of other points of interest, including places to stay and local sponsors.
Restrooms are available in the pavillion in neighboring Dewey Street Park, roughly 100 feet from the soccer fields.
Volunteers:
The MPRD will need volunteers to help with the operation of the tournament. These duties might include helping with player check-in, selling refreshments and cleaning up afterward. Due to our non-profit status, Lincoln High School students can earn time towards their community service requirement by volunteering with the MUFC.
